Rosenbloom Hopes Someone Else Will Hire Linehan
I’m glad Chicago beat Detroit, 6-2, today to force a one-game playoff with Minnesota tomorrow. Tuesday was going to be a boring sports day otherwise. No football in the U.S., although the Champions League will feature four matches in Europe. The baseball playoffs start Wednesday but it’s hard to be focused on the postseason until the regular season is complete.
The NFL remained as unpredictable as usual Sunday. Dallas lost at home to Washington. Unbeaten Denver lost to winless Kansas City. Oakland Coach Lane Kiffin was not the first skipper fired this season.
That distinction went to St. Louis leader, Scott Linehan. The move’s a bit surprising just four games into the season. However, Linehan is 11-25 in two-plus years at the helm. I liked how Ram owner Chip Rosenbloom (who inherited the team from his late stepmother, Georgia Frontiere, 29 years after she inherited the team from her late husband, Carroll Rosenbloom) wrote in the press release that he likes Linehan. Given the right opportunity, Rosenbloom added, Linehan will be a good NFL coach.
Rosenbloom sounded like a man who prays daily that someone will marry his ex-wife so he can stop paying alimony. Never mind there was a reason he ended the relationship in the first place. If Linehan isn’t hired by another team, Rosenbloom must pay the remaining two years of Linehan’s contract.

The Rams have no offensive line and no defense. All the coaching and QB changed in the world aren’t going to fix that.
That’s true. The Rams need a lot of help. Having Marc Bulger and Steven Jackson supposedly angry at the coach didn’t help the situation. The Rams need to start rebuilding right away.
