Upsets Highlight Topsy-Turvy Day in College Football
Three of the top four teams in college football lost Saturday. Top-ranked Oklahoma fell to #5 Texas, 45-35. The Longhorns trailed much of the game but scored the last 15 points to claim victory in the Red River Rivalry in Dallas.
Meanwhile, #3 Missouri lost at home to #17 Oklahoma State, 28-23. Number-four rated Louisiana State was thrashed by #11 Florida, 51-21, in Gainesville. The leading contenders to be number one next week are Texas and Alabama, which is ranked second currently but was off today.
The Tampa Bay Rays evened the American League Championship Series tonight by outlasting the Boston Red Sox, 9-8, in 11 innings. Game 3 is scheduled for Monday in Boston. The National League Championship Series resumes Sunday in Los Angeles. The Philadelphia Phillies lead two games to none but the L.A. Dodgers will try to rally.
