Sarkisian Named Washington Coach
Steve Sarkisian will be the coach at Washington starting next season. Sarkisian is presently the offensive coordinator at USC. He played quarterback at El Camino College, then at Brigham Young before entering coaching.
Norm Chow was offensive coordinator at BYU when Sarkisian was the quarterback. Later, Chow helped train Sarkisian to be a coach. There was a fallout between the two while both worked at USC. When Chow left USC for a job with the Tennessee Titans, Sarkisian replaced him.
It’s odd that Chow has been grooming quarterback for more than 30 years. He’s worked with players including Mark Wilson, Gifford Nielsen, Jim McMahon, Ty Detmer, Phillip Rivers, Carson Palmer, Matt Leinart and Vince Young during his college and pro career.
So how is it that his two predecessors at USC have gotten a combined three head coaching jobs while Chow’s never gotten one? Lane Kiffin has been named head coach of the Oakland Raiders and the University of Tennessee within the last two years. Now Sarkisian is a head coach. When is Chow’s turn?
