Tebow Should Win Heisman

Published by xzchief at 9:51 pm under Football Edit This

The Heisman Trophy winner will be announced Saturday night. The finalists are the quarterbacks of the top three teams: Sam Bradford of Oklahoma, Colt McCoy of Texas and Tim Tebow of Florida. The Blue Workhorse compiled a ballot of 74 bloggers who submitted their top three choices. Here’s what I sent him.

Third: Colt McCoy, QB, Texas

Good to hear that McCoy will return for his senior season. Any quarterback could use a fourth year of college. Even though McCoy is a top-flight player. Beyond his stats, he is a winner, save for the Texas Tech game when he didn’t get the ball last.

Second: Graham Harrell, QB, Texas Tech

Harrell completed nearly 72 percent of his passes, amassed 4,747 yards and threw for 41 touchdowns against just seven interceptions. Harrell led the Red Raiders to their best-ever record, 11-1, a share of the Big 12 South title, a win against Texas and a Cotton Bowl bid.

Winner: Tim Tebow, QB, Florida

Tebow is the first underclassman to ever win the Heisman. He was a marked man this year. Yet he willed his team into the national championship game. Florida without Tebow this season is LSU. The rushing and passing stats were impressive but his fourth quarter against Alabama Saturday was the clincher.
