Who Wants More Football?
Late January is one of my least favorite times of the year. After nearly five months of consistent football, there’s only one game left. I have to wait two weeks for the Super Bowl.
Granted, the Pro Bowl is next month also but I won’t be watching an exhibition game. The players want to be named to the team but most of them don’t want to play in the game and risk injury.
It’s hard for me to be motivated by basketball until after football season is over. I figure there’s plenty of time to follow the college season before the tournament begins in March. The NBA season doesn’t really start until the playoffs commence in mid-April. Hockey isn’t my favorite sport.
Without Tiger Woods playing while he recovers from last season’s knee surgery, golf won’t get a lot of attention. The Australian Open is one of the four Grand Slam tennis events but the time difference confuses me sometimes. I think there a 19-hour difference between Los Angeles and Melbourne.
Baseball doesn’t start until April. No sense watching spring training games that don’t count and feature guys who won’t make the team. I’m sad to be entering a sports slow period.

Babette, do you like football as well? I hate to think you are a proverbial football widow! At least the season is nearly over and you’ll have your husband back on the weekends.
