Geoff Ogilvy advanced to his third WGC Match Play Championship final in four years Saturday by winning two matches. Ogilvy, the 2006 U.S. Open winner, won the 2006 Match Play Championship and lost the 2007 final to Henrik Stenson.
Ogilvy defeated Rory McIlroy in the quarterfinals Saturday morning. He then bested Stewart Cink, a finalist last year, 4 and 2 in the semifinals this afternoon.
Ogilvy’s opponent will be Paul Casey. Casey handled Sean O’Hair then Ross Fisher today, each by a 4 and 3 score. Tomorrow’s final will be 36 holes. There will be one round in the morning, followed by a lunch break. The consolation match betweek Cink and Fisher will start in the afternoon, followed by the second half of the final.

Tim Clark, who upended Tiger Woods Thursday, could not repeat his fine play during Friday’s third round of the WGC Match Play Championship. He lost to 19-year-old sensation Rory McIlroy, 4 and 3.
McIlroy will face Geoff Ogilvy in a quarterfinal. Ogilvy beat Camilo Villegas, 2 and 1. The quarterfinals will be played Saturday morning. The semifinals are set for tomorrow afternoon in Tucson. The schedule means players will need to contest 36 holes tomorrow.
Phil Mickelson lost to Stewart Cink, last year’s runner-up, 1 up. Cink will next play Ernie Els. Els led Luke Donald, 1 up, after 17 holes. However, Donald injured his left wrist during his tee shot on the 17th hole. Donald was unable to tee off on the 18th hole and conceded the match.
Ross Fisher dispatched Jim Furyk, 4 and 3. Fisher plays Justin Leonard, a semifinalist last year who needed 19 holes to squeak past Oliver Wilson Friday, tomorrow.
Paul Casey handled Peter Hanson, 4 and 2. His next opponent is Sean O’Hair, who beat Ian Poulter, 2 and 1.

Tim Clark defeated Tiger Woods, 4 and 2, in the second round of the WGC Match Play Championship. Woods won the first hole Thursday as he did in his first match the previous day.
However, Clark is a better player than Brendan Jones, Woods’ first-round opponent. Clark was better able to capitalize on mistakes Woods made in late in the round. Most notably, Woods drove his tee shot on the 15th hole out of bounds. He couldn’t save par and Clark went dormie, 3-uo with three to play. Woods’ birdie putt on the 16tth hole was offline and the match was conceded. In other results:

In the Sam Snead Bracket, Fisher plays against Furyk and Leonard battles Wislon. In the Gary Player Bracket, O’Hair goes against Poulter and Casey faces Hanson.
