Tiger Takes Memorial; Lakers Win in Overtime

Published by xzchief at 1:24 am under Golf Edit This

Tiger Woods shot a final-round 65 Sunday to win the Memorial Tournament by one stroke. Woods had won the Memorial, hosted by Jack Nicklaus and played in suburban Columbus, in 1999, 2000 and 2001 but not since. Mark Bettencourt and Mark Wilson, co-leaders entering the final round, both shot over-par yesterday to give Woods a chance. Woods claimed his 67th PGA Tour victory.

Orlando was competitive in Game 2 of the NBA Finals but Los Angeles emerged with a 101-96 overtime victory. Los Angeles leads the best-of-seven series, two games to zero. Orlando will host the next three games–should all three be necessary. Game 3 will be Tuesday. No matter what happens in Florida this week, Orlando must win the championship in Los Angeles.

In-Kyung Kim won the LPGA Tour event in Springfield, Illinois. Tony Stewart won his first NASCAR race since becoming a driver/owner yesterday at Pocono.

Arizona State, North Carolina, Southern Mississippi and Virginia earned berths in the College World Series Sunday. The last spot will be decided Monday as Texas and Texas Christian play a third game.
