Little League World Series Field Set
Staten Island, New York defeated Bernardsville, New Jersey, 4-0, to win the Mid-Atlantic Region and be the last team to qualify for the Little League World Series. The World Series starts Friday. Each of the 16 teams will play three games and will be divided into pools of four. The top two teams from each pool will advance to the playoffs. The pools are as follows:

Mercer Island, Washington
Staten Island, New York
Urbandale, Iowa
Warner Robins, Georgia
Pool B
Chula Vista, California
Peabody, Massachusetts
Russellville, Kentucky
San Antonio, Texas
Pool C
Chiba City, Japan
Dhahran, Saudi Arabia
Maracaibo, Venezuela
Willemstad, Curacao, Netherlands Antilles
Pool D
Ramstein Air Force Base, Germany
Reynosa, Mexico
Taoyuan, Taiwan
Vancouver, British Columbia
Indiana (19-5) and Phoenix (17-8) remain atop the WNBA’s Eastern and Western conferences, respectively. Most of the rest of the league is tightly bunched. At the moment, the other three Eastern playoff teams are Atlanta (13-11), Connecticut (12-11) and Chicago (13-12). Seattle (13-11), San Antonio (11-13) and Minnesota (11-13) complete the Western playoff pool with about 10 games left for the 13 teams.
New York has the best record in baseball as the season reaches the three-quarter point. The Yankees are 74-45. Los Angeles (71-45), Detroit (62-55) and Texas (67-50) would be the American League’s other three playoff teams if the season ended today.
Los Angeles (70-49) has the National League’s top mark. Philadelphia (66-49), St. Louis (68-52) and Colorado (65-53) currently hold the other three postseason slots.
