The International final pits Mexico against Taiwan. Taiwan upset Curacao, 5-2, today. Mexico beat Taiwan, 3-2, Tuesday but that game is meaningless now.
The U.S. final features San Antonio, Texas against Chula Vista, California. California edged Warner Robins, Georgia–the 2007 LLWS champion–11-10, tonight. Texas defeated California, 6-3, Tuesday. Saturday’s losers will meet Sunday in the consolation game. Saturday’s winners will battle for the LLWS championship.
Sergio Garcia, Paul Goydos and Steve Marino share the opening-round lead at the first PGA Tour playoff event in Jersey City, New Jersey. The three men fired six-under par 65s. Tiger Woods and Phil Mickleson are tied for 27th place after first-round 70s. Paul Lawrie leads the European Tour event in Perthshire, Scotland.
