Baltimore Blanks Browns
Baltimore scored 16 points in a five-minute span early in the third quarter to break open a scoreless game at Cleveland. The Ravens (5-4) then used their defense to dismantle the hapless Browns (1-8) in a 16-0 victory. There were no points scored in the first half, the first time all season no points were tallied in the first 30 minutes of an NFL game.
In the NBA Monday, Atlanta edged Portland, 99-95. Dallas squeaked past Chicago, 115-113, in overtime. Orlando outlasted Charlotte, 97-91. New Orleans General Manager Jeff Bower fired Coach Byron Scott last week and appointed himself the interim coach. Allen Iverson reached an agreement with Memphis to end his contract with the team. Iverson hopes to land somewhere else in the league.
In the NHL tonight, the New York Islanders beat Boston, 4-1. Columbus defeated Edmonton, 3-2, in a shootout. Los Angeles prevailed against Florida, 4-3, in a shootout. Philadelphia edged New Jersey, 3-2. Pittsburgh dispatched Anaheim, 5-2. Tampa Bay handled Phoenix, 4-1.
Las Vegas (3-2) clinched a spot in the UFL championship game Nov. 27 by defeating California (2-3) in San Jose, 16-10, Saturday. With the win, the Locomotives completed the head-to-head sweep and earned the tiebreaker. California hosts unbeaten Florida (5-0) Thursday and Las Vegas visits winless New York (0-5) Friday to end the regular season.
