Woods Injured in Car Accident

Tiger Woods was injured in a one-car accident early Friday morning. More details are sure to be released this weekend. Florida police plan to interview Woods Saturday. On the course, Ireland leads late in the third round of the World Cup of Golf.

Friday was a big day for college football. Most of the top teams won. However, #9 Pittsburgh (9-2) lost the Backyard Brawl to West Virginia (8-3), 19-16, in Morgantown on a field goal as time expired.

Second-ranked Alabama (12-0) rallied past Auburn (7-5), 26-21, in the Iron Bowl. Cincinnati (11-0) was pushed hard by Illinois but the #5 Bearcats outlasted the Fighting Illini (3-8), 49-36. Boise State (12-0) won the Western Athletic Conference by holding off Nevada (8-4), 44-33.

In other games, Rutgers (8-3, 3-3 Big East) humbled Louisville (4-8, 1-6), 34-14. Nebraska (9-3, 6-2 Big 12) outlasted Colorado (3-9, 2-6), 28-20.

Ohio (9-3, 7-1 Mid-American Conference) won the MAC’s East Division by defeating Temple (9-3, 7-1), 35-17. The Bobcats’ opponent in the MAC Championship Game will be Central Michigan (10-2, 8-0), which dispatched Northern Illinois (7-5, 5-3), 45-31, today.

Las Vegas won the first United Football League championship Friday by upsetting Florida, 20-17, in overtime. The game had already been scheduled to be contested in Las Vegas. The Locomotives (5-2) had lost to the Tuskers (6-1) twice during the regular season.
